Denton Burn opens in 1964, as a
sub-branch to NEWCASTLE
UPON TYNE WINGROVE
Branch. As usual at this time, the only form of Bank Advertising permitted
has to be in newspapers and magazines, so the arrival of a new Branch of

Bank has a Branch in the same town or village. In a significant number of
cases, Barclays actually closes its own Branch in favour of the location
and/or facilities of the Martins Branch, but sadly not in the case of
Denton Burn which is but six years old when it is permanently closed on 12
December 1969…
